This pasta dish is a family favorite and one of my most requested recipes from friends. I have it memorized, but it only 6 ingredients so my guess is you will have it memorized as well after you make it once. My daughter, Maya is super picky about food and even she likes it. She calls it, “Noo Noos” which in my expert translation of her gibberish means noodles. I serve it with a fresh salad with Italian dressing and garlic bread. The recipe came from my now brother in law, Luke Moo. Yes, that is his last name. He was trying to make a romantic dinner for my sister, Jenny, when they were dating. Our friend, Jenny Brown, gave him this recipe to try. The rest is history. Four kids later, the Moo family stills make this dish often. Thanks Jenny Brown!
1 lb. Italian sausage, casings removed. (I use sweet or mild)
1 jar of your favorite marinara sauce
1 bag of grated mozzarella (16 oz)
1 cup sour cream
1 cup cottage cheese
1 lb Mostaccioli noodles (if you can’t find this type of noodle, use Penne)
Preheat the oven to 350. Brown the Italian sausage in a skillet over medium high heat until crumbled snd cooked through. Meanwhile, bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the package until Al Dente. You want the noodles to still have a little bite to them. Drain the pasta. Drain sausage on a paper towel lined plate. In a large bowl, combine cooked pasta, sausage, sour cream, cottage cheese, a handful of cheese, and about 1/2 cup of the sauce. Mix together. Pour everything into a 9 by 13 casserole dish. Top the pasta mixture with the rest of the jarred marinara and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes until the melted ands bubbly.
